In a strategic move aimed at fortifying India’s booming tourism industry, Visa, the global leader in digital payments, has partnered with the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC).
This groundbreaking 3-year collaboration is valued at up to $1 million USD. It is set to upskill and reskill at least 20,000 Indian youth across 10 states.
This is a significant step toward elevating the tourism service experience for travelers.
The Partnership Between THSC and Visa
Under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the THSC and Visa have formalized their commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce for India’s tourism sector.
The signing ceremony, graced by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSDE. He was accompanied by and Minister of State for Education.
This marks a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward becoming a global tourism hub.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhary, said, “India’s tourism industry has immense potential to drive economic growth and generate millions of jobs across the country.”

He added, “This partnership with Visa is a pivotal step towards realizing and unlocking that potential, equipping our youth with skills needed to thrive in the tourism sector and make India a premier global tourism destination.”
“The collaboration reflects our shared commitment to empowering young Indians with the skills and opportunities they need to shape their futures and contribute to the nation’s growth story,” Jayant said.
Targeted Upskilling for Essential Roles
The heart of this initiative lies in targeted upskilling. The program will focus on essential roles within the domestic tourism industry, including:
Tour Guides: Enhancing their knowledge of historical sites, cultural nuances, and storytelling techniques.
Customer Service Executives: Equipping them with communication skills, conflict resolution, and guest satisfaction strategies.
Naturalists: Deepening their understanding of local flora, fauna, and ecosystems.
Paragliding Tandem Pilots: Ensuring safety protocols and exceptional experiences for adventure-seeking tourists.
