TATA Group owned, Air India has changed and improved the policies for women employees. The company policy is part of MOMS – Returning Mothers Programme’. MOMS refers to ‘Making Our Mothers Soar‘
The company is providing 26 weeks of maternity leaves. As per the earlier policy, Air India was providing 12 weeks of maternity leave for female employees.
The policy will benefit female employees including commissioning and adopting mothers. The commissioning mother according to the policy implementation refers to one who commissions a surrogate mother to bear a child on her behalf while adopting the mother.
Additionally, according to the policy the female employee will also be provided with nutrition guidance and a daycare facility on a co-pay model.
Moreover, the airline will also be providing counselling sessions to address mental well-being, preparation for childbirth and expectant mothers planning to return to office.
The company is implementing the policies effective from April 1. The airline has an employee strength of 11,000 people including flying and non-flying staff.
Apart from this, Air India revised its privilege leave Policy for employees effective April 1. The airline will be revising its policy from the next financial year including for both permanent and full-term contract staff.
Additionally, the earlier report suggested that Air India will be revising the salary of staff and it is expected the salary hike to be nearly 8-10%.
It is expected that the shortage of pilots is the key reason behind the decision to raise salaries. There has been a shortage of pilots and the company wants to retain talent.
According to the reports, Air India Ltd will soon announce salary hikes across verticals. The salary hike will benefit employees across the board, including pilots, and cabin crew.
The initial salary hike will be for the pilots. Post this, the salary hike will take place for the cabin crew and other officers.
