An American multinational technology company, Google is offering a “Summer Special” program for employees aiming to ease hybrid work and travel time, and enjoy “delicious food.”
According to CNBC, employees can book a room at an on-campus hotel in Mountain View for $99 a night in what it’s deeming a “Summer Special”.
The internal material, as quoted in the report, reads, “Just imagine no commute to the office in the morning, and instead, you could have an extra hour of sleep and less friction.”
“Next, you could walk out of your room and quickly grab a delicious breakfast or get a workout in before work starts. The employees can enjoy a “quiet evening on top of the rooftop deck” after their work day ends”, it added.
Earlier, Google revised its hybrid work policy, making it mandatory for employees to be in the office for at least three days a week. Additionally, the company will also be including the “three days per week” in the performance reviews.
Previously, Google was starting a new pilot program restricting some of its employees to using internet-free desktops.
The company initially selected over 2,500 employees to participate in this program and after getting feedback, they made some changes.
Additionally, the employees can also volunteer to join if they are interested as they have an option to choose whether they want to be part of the program or not.
A Google spokesperson in an emailed statement said, “Ensuring the safety of our products and users is one of our top priorities,”.
“We routinely explore ways to strengthen our internal systems against malicious attacks”, the spokesperson added.
Under this program employees will not be able to browse websites or use online services while using these computers.
Apart from this, these employees will be able to use internal tools and Google-owned websites like Google Drive and Gmail.
