TCS ended WFH, and asked employees to follow the dress code

An IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) ended Work From Home and asked its employees to stick to the dress code.

Earlier, the company’s 70% of staff was already back in office. It was reported that Tata Consultancy Services has asked its employees to Work from the office 5 days a week from October 1, 2023, onwards.

Chief Human Resources Officer Milind Lakkad said, “We have hired a large number of workforce in last three years and they were working in Hybrid or Virtual mode, we strongly believe they need to come to work all days so that new workforce and get integrated with larger workforce of TCS. This only they will learn, internalize about our Vales, Culture, etc.”

“We will continue to assess our working models and evolve depending on what works best for our customers and employees.,” Milind Lakkad said.

Chief Operating Officer NG Subramaniam said, “People feel that it is better to be in the office.  About 70 percent of our employees have started to come to the office at this stage which is a very good thing.”

“Given the large-scale hiring that we did and the kind of attrition that we experienced…we believe that it is advisable to get everybody back to the office at this stage, which is the need of the hour for TCS,” NG Subramaniam added.

The company has said the employees are expected to be in dress code.

The email as shared by Business Today, “This is key to creating the right impact with stakeholders globally. The dress code policy gives clear guidance on the right attire while carrying out official responsibilities and duties.” 

“A large number of our associates have joined us in the last two years and have been working in a virtual or hybrid mode, and it is our responsibility to ensure they are well integrated – working from the office is key to integrating the TCS values and the TCS way,” a large email added.

Associates are expected to wear business casuals:

  • Tucked-in full-sleeved shirts with trousers for men and business dresses for women. This is the costume from Monday to Thursday.
  • Business formals are a norm for formal events like seminars and summits as well as for client visits.
  • The company allows smart casuals, which include half-sleeved shirts, turtlenecks, khakis, chinos, Kurti salwar (women), etc., only on Fridays.

However, Sightsin Plus has not reached out to TCS for a comment on the same.
