Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services provider, has recently revised its work-from-office (WFO) policy, setting new benchmarks in the Indian IT sector.
The updated policy emphasizes stricter office attendance rules, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a structured in-office work model.

Key Changes in TCS WFO Policy
Emergency Leave Flexibility: Under the revised policy, TCS employees can now mark up to six days per quarter as personal emergency leave.

Exception Entries and Network Issues: Employees can submit up to 30 exception requests in a single entry, addressing space constraints.
Network-related issues can be logged for up to five entries simultaneously. Requests not submitted within 10 days will be automatically rejected.
TCS urges employees to only submit backdated entries for the last two working days.
They can raise missing WFO entries for the current month by the 5th of the following month.
Ban on Backend Entry and Bulk Uploads: To ensure stricter monitoring of employee attendance records, TCS has banned bulk uploads and backend entry modifications.
This measure aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the attendance tracking process.
Five-Day Office Mandate: Among Indian IT giants, TCS has taken the lead in enforcing a five-day work-from-office policy, while competitors continue with a two- or three-day hybrid model.

However, HR Head Milind Lakkad has indicated that the policy may be revisited once operational stability is achieved.
