Mindtree turns employees’ work anniversaries into green celebrations

Mindtree, a global digital transformation company, has launched ‘Mindtree MyTree’. It is a unique initiative to celebrate employee work anniversaries by planting trees.

The company has pledged to plant 120,000 trees over three years across locations in India where it has operations. ‘Mindtree MyTree’ in partnership with SankalpTaru to plant trees on employee work anniversaries.

As part of the initiative, Mindtree’s tree planting partner SankalpTaru Foundation, an IT-enabled NGO focused on reforestation and environmental conservation, will plant a sapling on the work anniversary of each Mindtree employee and present them with a personalized certificate of plantation, along with a photograph and location of the sapling.

“Our employees are passionate about contributing to the cause of a greener environment, but are often pressed for time and opportunity,” said Paneesh Rao, Global Head of Sustainability at Mindtree.

“This initiative will enable them to take the first steps towards making a meaningful difference. As a purpose-driven organization, we take our commitments to our employees and our environment very seriously. With Mindtree MyTree, we can bring together these commitments to help make a positive change.” He said.

Paneesh further said, “This initiative will make work anniversaries even more special and be the source of immense joy and satisfaction to our employees as they watch the saplings grow into trees. These trees will help build a healthy environment by sequestering carbon, purifying the air, improving biodiversity, and increasing the green cover while supporting thousands of livelihoods.”

“Their commitment towards planting trees will go a long way in nurturing mother nature. We are also glad to combine our on-ground plantation efforts with blockchain technology and geo tagging for transparency and tracking. We look forward to our continued green journey with Mindtree Foundation and together create a better and greener world for future generations.” Apurva Added.

Mindtree runs a number of other environmental programs, which include providing solar electrification, energy-efficient stoves, and infrastructure and skilling support for horticulture and forest plantation programs in tribal hamlets and agrarian villages.
