Despite announcing last month that it would let 75% of its employees work from home by 2025, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking approval to develop two new IT parks of five million sqft as well as lease an additional one million sqft.

IT major TCS is planning to set up an over four million sqft IT park spread over a 50-acre plot in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is also in the process of constructing one million sqft park in Hinjewadi, Pune. The company has also entered into a pact to pick up one million sqft office space in Thane.

These new facilities in Pune and Noida are expected to accommodate over 50,000 employees or 11% of TCS’s current workforce, factoring an average per employee space of 125 sq ft as companies now construct and fit offices with social distancing norms in mind.

The approval for IT/ITeS Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sector 157, Noida, was secured in late March 2020. One of the two land parcels is owned by the company and will be developed by TCS through construction contractors.

Of the proposed facilities, the land parcel in Pune is owned by the company and has been converted into a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with approvals, while land parcel in Noida has been allotted by the government.

The facilities will also have laboratories and research & development units.

TATA Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) is the biggest Indian multinational information technology (IT) service and consulting company and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Currently, TCS is present in 50 countries and its total headcount is more than 450,000
