Star Health & Allied Insurance appoints a new CHRO

Star Health & Allied Insurance Company has appointed Dr. Sriharsha Achar as Joint Executive Director and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Achar is a result oriented, senior HR professional with over 3 decades of robust record in aligning HR strategy with business goals and instrumental in strengthening employee experience and relations to facilitate a cordial and high performance work environment across Manufacturing, BFSI, IT/ ITES, Health Insurance and Healthcare domains.

During his 34 year tenure, Achar has worked towards transitioning the organization’s focus from a systems approach to a change management approach & leading various projects to create a competitive advantage and increase the organization’s capacity and capability.

Achar has good expereince in working with insurance industry. Prior to Star Health, Achar was Prsediednt -HR of HDFC Ergo General Insurance Services for a short stint considering that he joined in February, 2020, and earlier to that he was Group CHRO of Apollo Haspital and before that, he was Executive Director and Chief People Officier of Apollo Munich Health Insurance for almost 10 years.

Achar had also taken a short break spending time helping with COVID-related relief activities and indulging in social work, before taking on his new role at Star Health, Chennai.

Previously, he also worked with companies like, Xchanging Technolgies, AstraZeneca and America Online, etc. Achar is an engineering graduate from Mumbai University, and holds two post-graduate degrees. He is also a PhD holder in human resources management from Azteca University, Mexico.
