The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has opened registrations for the fourth edition of its Space Science and Technology AwaReness Training (START) 2026 programme. The programme will run during March–April 2026. This year’s theme is “Observation from Space.”
The programme will introduce students to the basics and new uses of space-based observation systems. Topics include remote sensing, satellite weather studies, and Earth observation technology.
START is a yearly outreach programme by ISRO. It aims to build basic knowledge of space science and technology among students across India. The course will be held online for about three weeks, making it open to participants from all parts of the country.
Programme Structure and Participants
START 2026 will include beginner-level lectures by scientists, researchers, and professors from across India. The sessions are meant for postgraduate students and, if possible, final-year undergraduate students studying physical sciences and technology subjects.
The lectures will cover space science, mission planning, satellite data use, and India’s progress in space research. The programme gives students a clear view of study and career options in the space field.
Registration Process and Important Dates
ISRO has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from academic institutions across India to serve as nodal centers for the online programme. Institutions must submit their EoI in the required format by February 13, 2026, through the official portal.
Student registration from approved nodal centers will be open from February 18 to February 28, 2026. Individuals aged 20 years and above can also register directly until February 28, 2026, through the official online registration portal.
With START 2026, ISRO continues its efforts to support academic partnerships and prepare the next group of space scientists and engineers in India.
Interested candidates can register though official ISRO page.
