Recently, LinkedIn, the world’s largest social media platform for professionals, announced cutting 716 positions and shutting down its jobs app in mainland China, the California-based company.

Reportedly, the company has also discontinued Business Leadership Program. According to the profile on LinkedIn, One of the impacted freshers Lea Schuhmacher who has previously worked at LinkedIn as an intern (based on her profile) has shared a post on LinkedIn.

Lea Schuhmacher has also shared a screenshot of an email from the LinkedIn team as proof. She signed the contract in September 2022.

Lea Schuhmacher’s post said, “Being laid off before even starting a job? Welcome to my (and many others) world.

“Today, LinkedIn announced not only its “difficult decision“ to lay off hundreds of employees but also to discontinue the Business Leadership Program that I was supposed to be a part of”, the post added.

The post further said, “A job, for which I had been reassured with a probability of 99% that it will happen in a call yesterday. A job, that I had been counting on since I signed the contract in September 2022.”

“A job, for which several people declined other job offers and master‘s programs. A job, for which the whole relocation process was already set up. A job, I was actually really excited for. Happy 20th anniversary LinkedIn!”, the post said.

“Having worked for LinkedIn before LinkedIn, to say the least, I’m disappointed. To put it in simple words and keep a positive mindset: I am #opentowork“, she added.

“If you have any job recommendations, referral possibilities, or motivating thoughts feel free to reach out to me! It will be much appreciated. I am amazed by the reach this post has gotten and wholeheartedly grateful for anyone liking, commenting, sharing, and reaching out. I will try my best to get back to everyone throughout the next days, as I am also working on submitting my master’s thesis in the meantime”, the post concluded.
