Meta and MSDE Collaborate for Skill India; AI-Powered Learning

Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has joined forces with Meta, the social media giant formerly known as Facebook, to launch two transformative initiatives.

These initiatives promise to revolutionize learning experiences and equip India’s youth with the skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

Meta Partners with MSDE: AI Assistant for the Skill India Mission

The first initiative involves the development of an innovative AI-powered chatbot, leveraging Meta’s open-source Llama model.

This AI assistant will be seamlessly integrated into the Skill India Digital (SID) Portal, providing 24/7 assistance to users.

The AI chatbot assists learners in discovering course information, answering interactive questions related to course content, and accessing lecture summaries and relevant videos for revision.

Available over WhatsApp, the chatbot supports English, Hindi, and Hinglish, ensuring accessibility for a diverse range of users across India.

Users can search for specific course topics, find nearby skilling centers, explore job listings based on location and interest, and receive tailored feedback for continuous improvement.

The chatbot also provides valuable analytics to the MSDE, enabling continuous improvement of the platform.

Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR)

The second initiative establishes five Centers of Excellence (CoEs) across National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in key cities: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Chennai, and Kanpur.

These CoEs are dedicated to equipping learners and instructors with state-of-the-art VR and MR technology.

Learners will have access to realistic simulations, allowing them to enhance existing skills in a safe and engaging environment.

Instructors can leverage the latest VR technology to teach complex concepts, making learning more interactive and effective.

The CoEs aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students for real-world challenges.

Meta Partners with MSDE: Impact and Vision

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership.

He said “Our mission is to empower India’s youth with the skills they need to thrive. By integrating AI, VR, and MR into the Skill India ecosystem, we are democratizing access to cutting-edge technologies.”

Union Minister added, “Our collaboration with Meta is a significant step towards achieving this goal.”

This partnership not only streamlines information access and improves learning outcomes but also aligns with India’s broader AI Mission.

By making Meta’s open-source AI models accessible to India’s AI ecosystem, the vision is to catalyze large-scale socio-economic transformation.
