To bolster employment opportunities and skill development in India, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TeamLease EdTech.

This collaboration aims to enhance employment opportunities for job seekers registered on the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

The MoU was formalized in New Delhi, marking a milestone in promoting employment across various sectors.

Key Features of TeamLease and Ministry of Labour MoU

The MoU outlines several key initiatives designed to expand job opportunities and skill development for job seekers.

One of the primary features is the sharing of over 15,000 open job vacancies daily by TeamLease EdTech with the NCS portal.

These job postings will span various sectors and cater to a range of skill levels. They will be providing a diverse array of opportunities for job seekers.

Additionally, the collaboration will introduce work-linked degree programs that combine academic learning with hands-on industry experience.

These programs are designed to enhance youth employability and align educational paths with market needs.

TeamLease EdTech will bring around 200 work-linked degree programs to the NCS portal.

Each program will include embedded internships, providing over 500,000 hands-on learning opportunities.

The MoU mandates establishing Career Lounges in the Model Career Centers (MCCs) by December 2024.

These lounges will be staffed with dedicated counselors to provide career advice, job search assistance, and information on skill development programs.

The lounges aim to offer personalized support to job seekers, helping them navigate career pathways effectively.

TeamLease EdTech’s Digivarsity program will also be accessible to job seekers on the NCS portal.

It will provide them a suite of skill-building courses in areas like digital literacy, soft skills, and technical training.

This aligns with the government’s broader vision to create a digitally skilled workforce.

Impact and Future Prospects

The partnership between the Ministry of Labour and TeamLease EdTech will transform employment in India.

By bringing together job opportunities, skill development, and personalized career guidance, the collaboration aims to benefit millions of job seekers across the country.

The NCS portal, operational since July 2015, has already become an invaluable tool in India’s employment sector, bridging the gap between job seekers and employers.

With more than 35 lakh registered employers, the NCS portal has become a comprehensive hub for employment.

It also lists over 2 million active job vacancies in a single day, supporting career growth.

The MoU with TeamLease EdTech is expected to further enhance the portal’s capabilities, making it an even more effective platform for job seekers and employers alike.

The collaboration leverages the NCS portal and introduces innovative initiatives like work-linked degree programs and career lounges.

These efforts aim to equip job seekers with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
