Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services firm, has officially restarted its campus hiring program after a two-year hiatus, marking a strategic shift in its workforce planning.
The company has invited senior employees—those at job level five (JL5) and above with at least one year of service and a performance rating of “met expectations” or higher—to join recruitment panels that will visit engineering colleges across India.
This move comes at a time when the broader IT industry is grappling with workforce realignment, AI-led disruption, and cautious hiring strategies.
Infosys’s renewed focus on fresh talent acquisition contrasts with recent layoffs announced by competitors such as TCS, which plans to cut 12,000 jobs globally.
Senior Staff to Lead Campus Interviews
For the first time, Infosys has issued a mass email inviting managers and above to participate in campus hiring panels.
These employees will conduct in-person interviews at over ten tier-2 and tier-3 engineering colleges, assessing candidates for entry-level Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) roles.
The evaluation process will include multiple rounds: aptitude tests, group discussions, technical interviews, managerial assessments, and HR interviews.
Candidates selected will undergo training at Infosys’s Global Education Centre in Mysuru before being absorbed into full-time roles.
The company’s decision to involve senior staff in recruitment reflects a deeper commitment to shaping its future workforce and ensuring alignment with evolving technical and cultural expectations.
Infosys Hiring Targets and Talent Strategy
Infosys aims to hire between 15,000 and 20,000 fresh graduates in FY26 through both on-campus and off-campus channels.
This is a notable increase from the 11,900 freshers hired in FY24, though still below the 50,000 recruited in FY23.
CEO Salil Parekh has emphasized that Infosys will avoid large-scale layoffs and instead invest in building a future-ready workforce.
The company has already trained over 2.75 lakh employees in AI and digital technologies.
Its current hiring drive aims to bring in fresh talent to support next-generation solutions.
Infosys’s hiring strategy emphasizes core programming skills and strong problem-solving abilities. It also prioritizes adaptability to emerging technologies.
The DSE role is designed to help new graduates begin their careers. It serves as a launchpad for those entering the IT industry.
