In a major push to establish Andhra Pradesh’s executive capital as a premier technology destination, District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad announced that the state government has set an ambitious target to generate 1.1 lakh jobs through information technology companies in Vizag.

This initiative forms a core part of the state’s broader strategy. It aims to transform the “City of Destiny” into a global digital and electronics manufacturing hub.

Strategic Vision for Job Creation

During a recent review of industrial and IT progress, the Collector highlighted the government’s active coordination with various stakeholders.

They aim to streamline the entry of multinational corporations and startups.

The goal of 1.1 lakh jobs is intended to be achieved through a mix of direct employment in software development centers and indirect roles in the burgeoning IT-enabled services (ITeS) sector.

To facilitate this, the administration is focusing on enhancing the “Ease of Doing Business” by providing faster clearances and improving the existing plug-and-play infrastructure.

The focus is not only on high-end software roles but also on Business Process Management (BPM) and data analytics, ensuring a wide spectrum of opportunities for local graduates.

Vizag Infrastructure and Connectivity

A key driver of this employment surge is the development of the Adani Data Center and the expansion of IT parks in the Madhurawada and Rushikonda areas.

The Collector noted that the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport will act as a significant catalyst, improving international connectivity and making the city more attractive to global tech giants.

Furthermore, the government is incentivizing the “Work from Hometown” concept to encourage professionals from the region to return.

This initiative aims to strengthen the local ecosystem.

The administration is also working with the AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to ensure the local workforce is industry-ready for these new roles.

Holistic Development Approach

Beyond just office spaces, the government is focusing on creating a comprehensive ecosystem.

This includes research and development centers and electronic manufacturing clusters.

The government aims to create a diversified economy by integrating IT with the city’s existing pharma and steel industries.

This strategy will sustain long-term growth and provide high-paying employment for the youth of Andhra Pradesh.
