Trontek to Hire 500+ Professionals in Massive FY27 Expansion

Trontek, a leading Indian manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, has unveiled an ambitious growth roadmap aimed at significantly boosting its production and engineering capabilities.
The company announced it will create over 500 new jobs by the end of the 2027 fiscal year (FY27).
This workforce expansion will increase Trontek’s total employee base from approximately 967 to nearly 1,400, marking the largest hiring phase in the company’s two-decade history.
The move comes as India’s electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors enter a critical growth phase.
Trontek is positioning itself to meet the rising demand for reliable battery solutions across electric two- and three-wheelers, residential solar backup, and large-scale grid applications.
Trontek Strengthening In-House R&D and Manufacturing
A significant portion of the new hiring will focus on specialized technical roles, particularly within research and development (R&D).
The company is specifically targeting talent in battery management systems (BMS), thermal safety engineering, and product validation.
By strengthening these in-house functions, Trontek aims to build robust, locally engineered solutions that can withstand the unique environmental conditions of the Indian subcontinent.
“As demand scales across mobility and home energy, the competitive advantage will increasingly come from engineering depth and manufacturing resilience,” stated Samrath S. Kochar, Founder and CEO of Trontek.
He emphasized that the expansion reflects long-term confidence in India’s clean energy transition and a commitment to building global-scale capabilities.
Strategic Foray into Residential Energy Storage
The expansion follows Trontek’s recent entry into the residential energy storage market with its “Powercube” series.
These lithium-ion systems, ranging from 1.4 kWh to 2.7 kWh, are designed to replace traditional lead-acid batteries in homes and small businesses.
Trontek is moving from a primary role as an OEM supplier to a direct-to-consumer brand.
This shift allows the company to diversify its revenue streams and capitalize on the growing rooftop solar movement.
Future Outlook and Industry Position
In addition to residential storage, Trontek is developing utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) container solutions for the national grid.
To support these high-capacity projects, the company is setting up new manufacturing facilities.
While the industry remains reliant on imported cells, Trontek has successfully localized the production of chargers and BMS.
This achievement significantly reduces supply chain risks and aligns with the government’s “Make in India” mandates.
