Puducherry Govt Launches Internship Program for IT and ITES Graduates

The government of Puducherry has started a new internship program to give industry exposure to graduates in the information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITES) sectors.
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 while they train and gain work experience with companies based in the Union Territory.
Partnership with 23 Companies
Under this program, the UT government has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with 23 IT and ITES companies registered in Puducherry.
These companies will host interns for a one-year internship. The goal is to give graduates real work experience on technology projects.
Officials said the program will also strengthen cooperation between companies and colleges while supporting the growth of the IT sector in the region.
First Group of 145 Students Selected
In the first phase, about 145 graduate students with a computer science background have been chosen for the internship. The students will work with partner companies on technology tasks and learn how the industry works.
Each selected candidate will receive a ₹10,000 monthly stipend during the internship. This payment is meant to help them manage basic costs while they gain practical skills.
Support for Skills and Jobs
The program aims to improve job chances for graduates by giving them practical experience in areas such as software development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.
By placing interns with local IT and ITES companies, the government wants to build a stronger group of skilled workers for the technology sector.
Officials also believe the program can help connect classroom learning with industry needs, so graduates are better ready for full-time jobs in the digital economy.
