Epson Launches SCARA and 6-Axis Robotics Training for Youth

Epson, a global technology leader renowned for its printing, projection, and robotics solutions, has announced the launch of a comprehensive program designed to empower Indian engineering students with critical, real-world skills in Robotics.
This significant educational initiative is aimed squarely at bridging the recognized gap between traditional academic learning and practical expectations.
This gap exists in the high-tech, modern manufacturing industry.
The program is a cornerstone of Epson’s commitment to industry-academic collaboration.
It is focused on cultivating the next generation of engineers who are immediately workforce-ready in fields aligned with advanced manufacturing.
The company projects that over 100 students will directly benefit from these initiatives in the current fiscal year (FY25).
A Three-Pillared Approach: Labs, Internships, and Industry-Ready Skills
Epson’s empowerment program is structured around three key components: hands-on training, cutting-edge infrastructure, and institutional partnerships.
1. Establishment of State-of-the-Art Robotics Labs: A central element of the initiative is the establishment of advanced Robotics labs within leading engineering colleges across India. The company equips these labs with its industrial-grade automation technology, including its renowned SCARA and 6-Axis Robots. Epson engineers these specialized machines for precision, speed, and reliability across complex manufacturing applications such as assembly, material handling, packaging, and inspection.
Epson has already inaugurated a state-of-the-art lab in collaboration with Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) in Bengaluru. In a further commitment to expanding its educational reach, the company has confirmed plans to establish a similar Epson Robotics Lab soon. This new lab will be located at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai.
2. Intensive Hands-On Internship Program: The dedicated component ensures theoretical knowledge immediately translates into practical competence. This is provided through an internship component. The inaugural batch has already seen 22 students from four premier engineering institutes successfully complete a rigorous, 19-day hands-on training experience. This training took place at the Epson Solution Center in Bengaluru. This immersion allowed students to directly engage with real-world robotics systems, providing invaluable insights into the dynamic processes of modern manufacturing environments.
3. Focusing on Future-Ready Applications: The curriculum is designed to support classroom learning with practical, real-life applications training. Epson specifically focuses this training on its cutting-edge robotics solutions. By focusing on skills related to precision automation, the program ensures students gain expertise aligned with the latest industrial needs. This enables them to step confidently into roles in contemporary manufacturing and technology sectors.
Industry Perspective on the Initiative by Epson
Commenting on the launch, Siva Kumar, Senior General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Epson India, underscored the program’s strategic importance.
“At Epson, we believe in empowering the next generation of engineers with the tools and training they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry,” Siva stated.
He added that the partnerships with academic institutions and the dedicated internship program are essential for “giving students the exposure they need to step confidently into the workforce.”
By investing in these on-campus labs and practical training modules, Epson is not only performing a corporate social responsibility function.
It is also actively supporting the growth of India’s engineering education landscape.
This work is fostering a culture of innovation and preparing a talent pool ready for the demands of Industry 4.0.
The use of compact, powerful SCARA and 6-Axis Robots in the labs reflects the company’s belief.
These technologies are crucial for enhancing productivity and reducing operational costs in various manufacturing setups globally.
The program represents a key example of how global technology firms are collaborating with Indian educational institutions to build a skill-set.
Epson makes this skill-set both advanced and relevant to the needs of highly automated, future-focused industries.
