HCLTech, a global leader in technology services, has achieved a significant milestone in its academic outreach by engaging with over 1,000 engineering students in Chennai.

This initiative, part of the company’s broader “Campus Connect” program, involved students from three prestigious institutions: SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Saveetha Engineering College, and Panimalar Engineering College.

The sessions were designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the rapidly evolving requirements of the global tech industry.

HCLTech Bridging the Skills Gap in Emerging Tech

During the event, senior leadership from HCLTech provided deep dives into the technologies currently reshaping the global economy.

Experts including Maheswari V S, Head of Software Engineering Consulting, and Chief Architect Sathish Kumar M, led discussions on Generative AI, cloud transformation, and telecom innovation.

These sessions offered students a rare look into real-world applications of their coursework, moving beyond textbooks to discuss how digital platforms and software engineering are being deployed at scale for Fortune 500 clients.

The Scale of Campus Connect

The Chennai engagement is a key component of HCLTech’s nationwide effort to nurture “future-ready” talent.

HCLTech launched the Campus Connect program in early 2025.

Since then, the initiative has reached more than 10,000 students across India through on-campus and virtual interactions.

HCLTech aims to build a robust pipeline of entry-level professionals who are familiar with enterprise-grade tools.

To achieve this, the company exposes students to current career pathways and industry “red lines” early in their academic journey.

HCLTech’s Global Context

This academic focus comes as HCLTech continues to see strong financial momentum.

As of December 2025, the company reported consolidated annual revenues of $14.5 billion and a global workforce exceeding 226,300 people.

HCLTech operates in 60 countries with a portfolio heavily invested in AI and engineering.

The firm’s strategy relies on securing high-caliber talent from India’s top engineering hubs.

The Chennai initiative underscores the city’s status as a critical talent pool for the company’s digital and R&D segments.
