The IT services sector is increasing its focus on using artificial intelligence (AI). After moves by Accenture, Infosys is now asking its managers to use artificial intelligence (AI) more actively in client work to support growth.

Earlier this month, Julie Sweet, CEO of Accenture, made it clear to employees worldwide: knowing how to use artificial intelligence is now a must for anyone who wants to move up in the company.

At Infosys, mid- and senior-level managers are now expected to include AI in their daily work. This applies to employees at level 6 (6A and 6B) and above. Roles such as technical architects and project managers must show clear improvements in client projects using AI tools.

This step comes as Infosys deals with slower demand due to global economic pressure. By using AI more often, the company aims to get more work done for clients without adding many new employees.

Accenture has taken a similar approach. It has already been encouraging its teams worldwide to use AI to improve output and create new sources of income.

Clear Plan to Build AI Skills

A senior Infosys leader explained this 3-level AI skill structure in an interview:

  • AI Aware – basic level of AI understanding
  • AI Builders – employees who create AI-led solutions
  • AI Masters – experts who build advanced AI systems

This plan helps the company train its workforce step by step. It also ensures that employees at all levels can take part in AI-based work.

AI Becomes Key to Growth

Both Infosys, Accenture, and other IT companies are making AI a core part of how they operate. The goal is to improve efficiency, lower costs, and deliver faster results to clients.

This also shows a shift in how IT companies grow. Instead of relying only on hiring more people, they are focusing on better output through technology.

What Lies Ahead

With demand still uncertain, IT companies are counting on managers to put AI into action. The ability to use AI in real projects will play a big role in future growth.

For Infosys and Accenture, this approach could help them stay competitive and find new business opportunities in a changing market.

Summary

  • Infosys is pushing managers to use AI more in client work to support growth.
  • Mid- and senior-level managers (level 6 and above), including architects and project managers, must use AI in delivery and show clear gains in efficiency and output.
  • With global demand still slow, Infosys aims to grow by doing more work for existing clients using AI, without adding many new employees.
