UP Skill Revolution: 83,000+ Apprentices Placed in FY26

Uttar Pradesh government has achieved a significant milestone in its mission to boost youth employability, successfully placing 83,277 youth as apprentices across various industrial and MSME units in the 2025–26 financial year.
This announcement was made by the State’s Public Information Department.
It underscores the government’s aggressive push to transform Uttar Pradesh into a premier hub for skilled human resources.
The “Earn While You Learn” Ecosystem
The apprenticeship drive is powered by a strategic combination of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (CMAPS).
These initiatives are designed to bridge the gap between academic certification and practical workplace readiness.
The state provides hands-on exposure in sectors like manufacturing, services, and small enterprises.
It is actively moving towards an “earn while you learn” model that encourages self-reliance.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education and Skill Development, Kapil Dev Agarwal, highlighted that the program focuses on “meaningful industry linkages.”
Rather than just providing certificates, the drive ensures that youth gain the technical skills required by modern industries, directly enhancing their long-term employment prospects.
Financial Incentives and MSME Integration for Apprentices
A critical factor in the success of FY26 has been the reimbursement facility offered to both trainees and employers.
Under CMAPS, the government provides financial assistance to apprentices, while establishments—especially MSMEs—receive support to offset the cost of training.
- Institutional Expansion: Over the last four years, 795 new establishments have registered on the state’s apprenticeship portal.
- CMAPS Impact: In the current cycle alone, 6,164 new candidates have been directly benefited under the CMAPS initiative.
- Long-term Growth: Officials report that sustained skilling efforts over the past nine years have enabled more than four lakh trained youth to secure placements in industrial units.
Digital Transformation and Future Goals
The state government is now working to further scale the ecosystem by strengthening digital platforms and simplifying administrative procedures.
This expansion is part of a broader vision to prevent regional migration by providing high-quality jobs at the local level.
The state is actively moving toward its goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
Leadership believes a skilled, self-reliant workforce will be the primary driver of this industrial growth and investment.
