Infosys, one of India’s top IT services firms, has reported that its Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune development centres recorded the highest on-site attendance in April 2025.
The data, shared during an internal all-hands meeting, reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its return-to-office (RTO) policy, which mandates a minimum in-office presence for employees each month.
The move aligns with broader industry trends as IT majors seek to balance hybrid work flexibility with the benefits of physical collaboration.
Infosys Attendance Snapshot: Bengaluru Tops the Charts
According to internal data, Infosys’ Bengaluru centre led with 57% in-office attendance, followed by Chennai at 52% and Pune at 50%.
These figures represent the highest attendance rates across Infosys’ Indian campuses.
In contrast, Nagpur (46%), Indore (41%), and Gurgaon (32%) recorded the lowest attendance levels.
The company, which employs over 323,500 people globally, with a majority based in India, has been actively encouraging employees to return to physical offices since November 2023.
Policy Framework: 10-Day Minimum Mandate
Infosys’ RTO policy requires employees at Job Level (JL) 5 and below—including software engineers, senior engineers, system engineers, and consultants—to work from the office at least 10 days per month.
Non-compliance triggers a “system intervention”, where unapproved absences are marked as leave unless explicitly approved by managers.
Employees at JL6 and above, such as managers and senior delivery managers, are not bound by the same mandate but are still encouraged to maintain regular in-office presence.
Vertical-Wise Attendance: Engineering and IoT Lead
Attendance data segmented by business verticals revealed that Engineering IoT topped the charts with 71% attendance across job levels, followed by Engineering Medical (55%), IoT (53%), and Engineering Automobile (30%).
Among job levels, JL6 employees recorded the highest attendance (62%–73%), followed by JL5.
This suggests that senior professionals and engineering-focused teams are more aligned with the company’s in-office collaboration goals.
