Microsoft to Onboard 15,000+ Global Employers to NCS Platform

In a major initiative to bolster India’s workforce and global employment readiness, the Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) and Microsoft signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi.
The agreement, executed in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, focuses on the tripartite goals of expanding employment linkages, scaling Artificial Intelligence (AI)-led skilling, and enhancing international mobility for Indian professionals.
Microsoft and MoLE Partnership: Global Jobs for Indian Youth
A cornerstone of this collaboration is Microsoft’s commitment to significantly widen the reach of the Ministry’s National Career Service (NCS) platform.
Microsoft will actively encourage over 15,000 employers and partners from its extensive international network to onboard onto the NCS portal.
This move is designed to broaden access to formal job opportunities, support high-growth sectors, and create direct pathways for young Indians to secure positions both domestically and across the world.
Minister Mandaviya highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, noting that it reflects a shared ambition to leverage India’s favorable demographic dividend and foster a globally competitive, digitally skilled workforce.
Scaling Future-Ready Skills via DigiSaksham
The MoU further mandates the expansion and modernization of the joint digital skilling initiative, DigiSaksham.
The enhanced program will focus on AI-driven skilling, equipping millions of young individuals with future-ready capabilities in critical technological domains.
These include AI, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and modern digital productivity tools.
The partners aim the effort at aligning the skills of India’s young population with global standards. This is crucial given the rapidly evolving demands of the industry.
AI Integration in Social Protection
The partnership extends deep into India’s digital public infrastructure.
Microsoft will use its Azure and AI capabilities to strengthen platforms like the National Career Service (NCS) and e-Shram.
The e-Shram platform, specifically, has already succeeded in registering over 310 million unorganized workers.
The partners will leverage the technology to enhance e-Shram analytics, improve labor market intelligence, and modernize job-matching services through AI-assisted tools.
CEO Satya Nadella praised India’s progress in social protection, noting the historic rise in coverage to 64.3 percent.
He also expressed Microsoft’s keen interest in supporting India’s journey towards building an Employment Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
He recognized the DPI’s potential to drive private innovation and deliver interoperable labor-market solutions at scale.
The collaboration represents a decisive step in applying AI at a population scale to fortify social security and employment for hundreds of millions.
