Sarvam AI in Advanced Talks for $250M Funding from Nvidia, Accel, and HCLTech

Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam AI is reportedly in advanced discussions to raise between $200 million and $250 million.
The funding round, expected to be led by US chipmaker Nvidia and venture capital giant Accel, with participation from Indian IT major HCLTech, could value the company at approximately $1.5 billion.
A Strategic Alliance for Infrastructure and Deployment
If finalized, this investment would mark one of the largest private funding rounds for an Indian AI company to date, propelling Sarvam into the “unicorn” club less than two years after its inception.
The participation of Nvidia is seen as a strategic cornerstone; Sarvam already builds its models on Nvidia’s full-stack platform, utilizing specialized libraries for optimization.
Furthermore, the involvement of HCLTech signals a shift in the Indian ITeS sector, where traditional service providers are increasingly acting as strategic investors to secure early access to locally-trained, enterprise-ready AI models.
This partnership could enable HCLTech to deploy Sarvam’s generative AI solutions across its global client base at an unprecedented scale.

Building India’s Sovereign AI Stack
Founded in July 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI has distinguished itself by focusing on “sovereign AI”—foundational models tailored specifically for India’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
In February 2026, the company unveiled its Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B models, which support 22 Indian languages and are positioned as high-performance, cost-effective alternatives to global offerings like GPT-4.
The startup is also a key beneficiary of the government’s IndiaAI Mission.
It has already secured access to over 4,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs through subsidies, highlighting its role as a national champion in the race for AI self-reliance.
Beyond research, Sarvam is scaling its commercial traction through partnerships with firms like Swiggy and Razorpay to launch voice-first, multilingual commerce tools.
Sarvam AI Valuation Realism Amidst Rapid Growth
The projected $1.5 billion valuation represents a staggering sevenfold increase from its previous funding round of $41 million in late 2023.
While industry experts note the high revenue multiples typical of the AI sector, Sarvam’s ability to secure domestic computing power and its “B2B-first” monetization strategy have reinforced investor confidence in its long-term viability against global tech giants.
