Croma, India’s leading consumer durables and electronics retail chain, has announced the appointment of Shibashish Roy as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), effective April 1, 2025.

With over two decades of experience within Tata Group companies, Shibashish succeeds Avijit Mitra, who has retired after a distinguished tenure.

As the retail industry evolves, Croma faces challenges such as increasing competition and changing consumer preferences.

However, Shibashish’s leadership and strategic approach position the company to navigate these challenges effectively.

Croma Leadership Transition and Succession Planning

Shibashish Roy was named CEO in November 2024, initiating a five-month transition period alongside outgoing MD Avijit Mitra.

This carefully planned succession ensured a seamless handover of responsibilities.

It allowed Shibashish to become familiar with the intricacies of Croma’s operations and strategic goals.

Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail Ltd., which operates Croma, expressed confidence in Shibashish’s ability to lead the company into its next phase of growth.

Naveen stated, “Shibashish’s digital-first approach and passion for customer engagement will drive Croma to great heights.”

Under Shibashish’s leadership, Croma aims to strengthen its market presence in major cities while expanding into Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions.

The company has identified increasing market share and profitability as key priorities for the fiscal year 2026.

Shibashish’s expertise in leveraging digital technologies and omnichannel strategies is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives.

His vision aligns with Croma’s commitment to delivering innovative and customer-centric solutions.

Expanding Retail Footprint and Enhancing Customer Experience

Croma operates around 560 stores across 200 cities in India. This makes it one of the largest organized retailers in consumer durables and electronics nationwide.

The company is aggressively opening new stores in suburban areas of metro cities and smaller towns, catering to a diverse customer base.

This expansion strategy reflects Croma’s dedication to making high-quality products accessible to consumers nationwide.

Shibashish’s appointment comes at a time when Croma is focusing on enhancing customer experiences through digital transformation.

The company is leveraging advanced technologies to create seamless shopping experiences across online and offline channels.

By integrating data analytics and personalized marketing, Croma aims to build stronger connections with its customers and drive loyalty.
