Extramarks Elevates Sungkriityayann Khaann as SVP – HR

Extramarks, an edtech company has promoted Sungkriityayann Khaann to Senior Vice President – Human Resources.

In his new role, Sungkriityayann will lead the company’s HR work across the group. He will manage people plans, hiring, employee engagement, and HR operations for a workforce of more than 4,500 employees.

Extensive Experience

Sungkriityayann joined Extramarks in 2018 and has held several leadership roles in the HR team. Most recently, he served as Vice President – Human Resources. During this time, he led large hiring drives across many business areas such as sales, technology, animation, academics, strategy, and finance.

He also helped set up HR systems and processes for four new group companies — NX Block Trades, Tuktuki Entertainments, Tryangle42 Labs, and Daffodil Hotels. His work included talent planning, HRMS setup, and leadership hiring.

During his time at the company, he helped bring down employee attrition from 45 percent to 10 percent through policy changes and stronger employee programs. He also led large hiring drives, including closing more than 90 roles in 24 days and completing 124 hires in 35 days for sales and other teams.

Earlier in his career, Sungkriityayann worked with Airblack, Business Octane Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and BYJU’S, where he gained experience in recruitment, talent planning, and business development.

He holds a PhD in Human Resources Management from Chitkara University. He also earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing and a B.Tech in Computer Science from SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
