Wipro Expands Footprint in South Korea with New Seoul Innovation Lab

Wipro Limited has officially announced a significant expansion of its business operations in South Korea, marking the country as a critical pivot point for its global growth strategy.

The expansion features an enlarged office presence in Seoul and the launch of a specialized Innovation Lab, designed to meet the rising demand for AI-led industrial transformation.

A Hub for High-Tech Co-Innovation

The new Seoul Innovation Lab joins the Wipro Innovation Network (WIN), becoming the company’s ninth such facility globally and its fifth in the APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, and Africa) region.

This lab is positioned to serve as a collaborative “sandbox” where South Korean enterprises can engage in rapid experimentation and co-creation.

Key focus areas for the lab include:

• Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV): Advancing automotive engineering for the next generation of connected cars.
• Smart Manufacturing: Leveraging AI to optimize industrial production and supply chain resilience.
• Wipro Intelligence™: Showcasing Wipro’s unified suite of AI-powered platforms to solve complex, real-world business scenarios.

Wipro Leveraging the HARMAN DTS Synergy

The expansion builds on the momentum of Wipro’s $375 million acquisition of the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) unit from HARMAN, a Samsung company, which was finalized in late 2025.

This integration brought over 5,000 global professionals into the Wipro ecosystem, significantly bolstering its product engineering capabilities in South Korea.

Vinay Firake, CEO of Wipro’s APMEA Strategic Market Unit, emphasized that South Korea’s leadership in semiconductors and automotive engineering makes it an “increasingly important center of global innovation.”

He noted that the strengthened local presence aims to help Korean firms translate high-level innovation into measurable business outcomes.

Investing in Local Ecosystems

Beyond infrastructure, Wipro is deepening its ties to the South Korean talent pool.

The company currently employs several hundred professionals locally.

It is also actively partnering with academic institutions to upskill early-career professionals in advanced AI and engineering programs.
