HCLTech, a global leader in IT services, has reaffirmed its commitment to workforce development by announcing plans to intensify upskilling efforts for FY2025–26.

Ramachandran Sundararajan, CHRO of HCL Tech, shared this vision during the company’s Q4 press briefing in Noida.

The initiative focuses on equipping employees with advanced skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies.

These efforts align with the company’s strategy to excel in a digitally driven future.

Upskilling as a Core Pillar of HCLTech

Upskilling has emerged as a cornerstone of HCL Tech’s workforce strategy.

In FY2024–25, the company successfully upskilled over 106,000 employees in AI, surpassing its initial target of 50,000.

This achievement underscores HCL Tech’s dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Ramachandran emphasized that AI capabilities will remain a core focus, enabling employees to adapt to evolving industry demands and contribute to transformative business outcomes.

Expansion of Workforce and Retention Strategies

HCL Tech’s workforce expansion and retention strategies complement its upskilling initiatives.

In Q4 FY2024–25 alone, the company added 2,665 employees, including 1,805 freshers.

For the full fiscal year, HCL Tech onboarded 7,829 freshers, contributing to a year-over-year headcount increase of 4,061.

As of March 2025, the company’s total employee count stands at 223,420, with women representing 28.8% of the workforce.

As part of its 2024 compensation cycle, HCL Tech announced a 7% salary hike, with top performers receiving increases between 12–15%.

These revisions reflect the company’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding employee contributions, further enhancing its appeal as an employer of choice.

The company also reported an attrition rate of 13%, marking a 24 basis-point improvement over the previous year.

Ramachandran attributed this stabilization to the success of upskilling programs, which have enhanced employee engagement and workplace stability.

HCLTech Collaboration with upGrad Enterprise

HCL Tech’s partnership with upGrad Enterprise further strengthens its upskilling agenda.

Together, they offer job-aligned learning programs in Generative AI (GenAI) and allied technologies.

The collaboration includes the launch of a Data Science and AI Academy of Excellence, providing learners access to world-class pedagogy and industry-relevant content.

This initiative aims to empower professionals with applied learning experiences, driving real-world impact and innovation.
