HCLTech, a global leader in IT services and digital transformation, today confirms the expansion of its U.S. Apprenticeship Program.
Aimed at high school graduates and early‑career talent, this initiative offers full‑time tech jobs that include paid training, mentorship, benefits from day one, and the opportunity to earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree without taking on student loan debt.
Career launch with zero education debt
The program runs for a full year, or six months if participants already hold an associate degree in computer science. In that time, apprentices receive hands‑on training in real projects and specialized tech roles—ranging from software QA and test analysis to cloud computing, network security, SAP testing, and endpoint security.
Importantly, after the apprenticeship ends, each participant becomes a full‑time HCLTech employee at an elevated salary and receives continued tuition assistance through accredited institutions like Southern New Hampshire University and Purdue University Global.
Key criteria and locations
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in high school—or a 3.0 in higher education if applicable—and may hold a high school diploma, GED, or associate degree.
Candidates cannot hold a bachelor’s STEM degree or higher. Only U.S. citizens and Green Card holders are eligible. The program is currently offered in Frisco, TX; Cary, NC; and Sacramento, CA.
Merit‑based admissions process
Prospective apprentices undergo a five‑step selection process: registration, an online assessment, a video interview, an offer, and onboarding.
Admission criteria include academic performance, test results, and demonstrated potential to learn quickly—reinforcing the program’s demand‑driven nature.
Strategic educational partnerships
HCLTech has teamed up with Purdue University Global and Southern New Hampshire University to let apprentices pursue degrees in tech areas like cloud, software, and cybersecurity while working.
With full tuition paid through grants and HCLTech’s Sponsor model, the program supports an earn‑while‑you‑learn framework that’s financially accessible.
Part of a global early‑career effort
The U.S. initiative is part of HCLTech’s larger Rise early‑career strategy, which has already included the TechBee program in India—now in its eighth year—helping thousands of Class 12 graduates move into jobs and part‑time degrees.
HCLTech reports hiring over 12,100 early‑career professionals in FY 2024 alone, earning top placement on Forbes’s Best Employers for New Graduates list in 2024.
Why it matters
This move shows HCLTech’s commitment to addressing the U.S.’s growing need for tech talent.
By offering paid on‑the‑job training tied to college degrees, the program lowers the barrier to entry in the tech sector, especially for those without four‑year degrees.
Offering benefits from day one and guaranteed salary raises and role conversions reinforces HCLTech’s employer credibility.
What’s next
With spots limited and the application window already open, interested students and early‑career candidates are encouraged to apply soon through HCLTech’s careers site.
The initiative opens doors to in‑demand jobs, tech training, and a debt‑free path to a college degree.
