Information Technology & Consulting firm, Accenture is planning to hire 1,50,000 new employees using the metaverse in the upcoming fiscal year.
Candidates selected for the metaverse process will be given VR headsets.
According to reports, the company has even created a virtual location on Nth floor where people meet, collaborate, and learn. Over the last six months, the company’s job postings related to quantum computing, blockchain, and metaverse have doubled.
Accenture is currently in the process of deploying 60,000 VR headsets in multiple countries. As per experts, the metaverse experience is said to be 30-40 per cent more productive than traditional ways of learning.
Accenture’s Metaverse Continuum business Group led by Paul Daugherty, Group Chief Executive- Technology and Chief Technology Officer said, “The company started looking at new ways to collaborate and onboard after two years of the pandemic, while many employees continue to work remotely.”
“It requires several digital skills. These include XR, blockchain, gaming, security, and artificial intelligence.” She added.
Paul Daugherty further said, “At Accenture’s Metaverse Continuum Business Group, we’re helping redefine what is possible for our clients, ourselves, and the world. Our vision is one that is built on human experience—and we see the Metaverse as a continuum, a spectrum of digitally enhanced worlds, realities, and business models.”
“It’s a new medium for commerce, experience, and community and we’re looking for innovative pioneers to help us bring our vision to life responsibly, generating sustainable and diverse value in the short and long term.” She added.
The IT company has created digital twins of its physical offices in Bengaluru, Madrid, and San Francisco. It has 600 patents in the metaverse.
Accenture has 40 clients that are involved in the metaverse. Chocolate manufacturer Mars, for example, is partnering with Accenture and Microsoft to help digitise its supply chain by embracing the digital twins concept.
Mars will now be able to make digital simulations of its product development process so that variable factors like climate and other disruptions are taken into consideration.
