Diageo India has announced a 26-week parental leave policy to all employees, regardless of gender, after birth/adoption of a child. The policy is effective from July 30, 2021.

The policy offers all eligible employees a 26-week parental leave, comprising all benefits and bonuses, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation. This policy includes surrogacy, adoption, and biological conception.

Commenting on Parental Leave Policy Aarif Aziz, CHRO, Diageo India, said. “It’s no more spouses, it’s partners who get covered. It’s a significant step in articulating our thinking is more holistic, and creating inclusive policies and environments for employees to thrive and succeed at the workplace,”

“We believe that this will pave the way to greater equality, and talent is retained and nurtured,” Aziz added.

“Spouses/partners can avail of the leave anytime within 12 months of birth/adoption of the child,” he said.

“Every employee is encouraged to equally focus on the joy of raising a new family; while continuing to thrive at work, ensuring that they can spend quality time and bond with their child,” Aziz said.

The family leave policy of Diageo India also includes benefits and bonuses such as flexible working hours, creche allowance, maternity, and surrogacy coverage, up to 10-weeks leave in the event of a miscarriage.

The benefits and bonuses are offered to all employees, regardless of gender and sexual orientation.

Earlier in the month of April 2019, Diageo UK had also announced a similar policy for UK employees eligible for the same 26 weeks, retaining benefits and bonuses regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or whether they become parents biologically, via surrogacy or adopt.
