In the conversation with mint Krishna Raghavan told that the company will not be offering salary hikes to senior management officials and also would not lead to any job cuts.

Additionally, the company will not delay in onboarding freshers recruited from engineering and management colleges. The freshers will join Flipkart in June 2023.

Krishna Raghavan, the Chief People Officer has said, “Flipkart is not among those companies that hire thousands and then lay off only to reduce the headcount. We do responsible hiring”

Flipkart currently employs a strength of 15,000 people. Earlier, in February In mid of the layoff wave Flipkart announced will not give salary hikes to its nearly 4500 senior employees this year.

The company said that it will be providing an annual increment of salaries to only 70 percent of its employees. The company is not providing increments for the top 30% of employees due to the current macroeconomic situation. The company’s Chief People Officer, Krishna Raghavan, informed employees about the decision.

The company has always focused on generating direct and indirect employment and a commitment to empowering generations of entrepreneurs and MSMEs, all driven by a sustainable growth strategy.

The announcement follows when its competitor Amazon recently announced the second round of layoffs. The company sacked 27,000 employees in the last three months.

Recently, its rival company, Amazon announced the layoff of 9000 employees. Amazon team of the Web Services Department (AWS) had posted 24,988 open positions, but only 7,798 of those positions were approved to be filled.

The company posted over three times the number of job openings approved in 2022. This indicates Amazon’s over-hiring employees and the error has ever caused mass layoffs within the organization.

Earlier, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Chief Human Resources officer Milind Lakkad also said that TCS will be looking to hire such impacted employees. He explained the layoffs and said many companies are forced to take such a step because they hired more than they wanted.
