IBM sues former executive for accepting role at rival company

An American multinational technology corporation, IBM has sued a former top Thai executive for accepting a role at a rival company.

As per the company’s claims, The company has paid the employees bonuses totaling more than $470,000 in exchange for protecting confidential information and not engaging in “anti-competitive conduct within a specified period”. The company had asked the employee to return the money but the employee refused.

IBM has filed a Lawsuit against a Thailand General Manager, Patama Chantaruk. According to the lawsuit its former employee breached her contract as she accepted a senior role with Accenture.

IBM’s lawyers wrote in the complaint that “IBM and Accenture entities compete particularly in the information, digitalization, and consulting spaces, both globally and within the Asia-Pacific region.”

From IBM Patama Chantaruk joined Accenture as Thailand business Managing director in the month in April 2022. Prior to IBM Patama Chantaruk also worked with Microsoft.

The lawsuit was filled in federal court in New York as Accenture was its biggest competitor in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of consulting revenue.
