Cognizant to hire 23,000 freshers from campuses in India

Cognizant Technology Solutions expects to hire around 23,000 people from campuses in 2021, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Rajesh Nambiar said.

Currently, Cognizant India has more than 2,00,000 employees. The company hired more than 17,000 people through campus placement drives last year. This year, the prospect hiring number has increased up to 23, 000 which is about 35% more than what they did in 2020.

Rajesh Nambiar, CMD, Cognizant India, in a statement said, “These new hirings will complement our lateral hires. In quarter one, we will hire more than in any other quarter in the history of Cognizant.”

He also added, “Cognizant will focus on hiring staff for its digital products, such as cloud, data, digital engineering, and internet of things (IoT) and other strategic areas such as cybersecurity, salesforce, and business modernisation technologies.”

Nambiar told media that Cognizant continues to be one of the top recruiters of engineering, science, management, and other talents from educational institutions. He said nearly 70 percent of the technology company’s global workforce is in India.

Nambiar, who took over as CMD of the software major on November 9, also spoke about his priorities in his new role.
