Siemens is ramping up hiring in India with 700 new openings, including roles for trainees, interns, and entry-level professionals.
Last November, the company announced plans to position India among its top three or four global markets within the next three years, surpassing Germany and France.
India’s Infrastructure Boom Drives Siemens’ Growth Plans
Currently, India ranks as Siemens’ fifth-largest market, contributing 3.5–4% to the company’s revenue.
Peter Koerte, a Siemens AG managing board member, highlighted India’s rapid growth, citing its extensive infrastructure projects in sectors such as locomotives, cement, and chemicals.
He noted that India is second only to China in terms of infrastructure development scale.
Koerte revealed that over 80% of Siemens’ current capabilities are hardware-focused, with software contributing about 12%. The company aims to boost its software offerings through organic growth and acquisitions, such as the purchase of Altair.
This shift is driving hiring efforts, particularly in cities like Pune and Bengaluru, where Siemens employs around 10,000 people. India’s role in AI and software development is becoming increasingly significant.
Despite this focus, Siemens’ growth in the region will largely depend on manufacturing and infrastructure investments, with key operations spanning industrial, mobility, and infrastructure sectors.
