Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced its second-quarter results last week. The company is planning to recruit more than 35,000 freshers in the second half of the current financial year.

The company has already added 43,000 freshers in the first six months of this financial year. That means the IT major will hire a total of 78,000 fresh graduates for the full financial year.

TCS reported attrition of 11.9% in Q2. Although the attrition rate is the lowest among peers, it has gone up from the previous quarter’s 8.6 per cent, ending on June 30.

Milind Lakkad, Global CHRO, TCS has expressed concern over rising levels of attrition and said “We believe the current levels of attrition will continue for the next two to three quarters.”

“We may have to increase the volume or velocity of our hiring a bit more than what we usually do because of increased attrition,” he added.
