TCS to finish campus hiring of over 20,000 techies by December 2020

India’s largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has started its placement. The tech firm plans to replicate the last year’s hiring strategy this year as well.

The IT services firm is using its National Qualifier Test (NQT) for hiring techies. The test is among the most sought-after and advanced recruiting tool. TCS NQT covers 1,800 technical institutes. The tech firm hired 40,000 candidates last year using TNQT platform. Even this year, it plans to hire the same number of candidates.

According to TCS’s chief human resource officer, Milind Lakkad, the company will hire 17,000-20,000 freshers from the 2019-20 batch by December. The remaining number of candidates will join from Q4FY21 and Q1FY22.

Lakkad said, “TNQT this year will start in October (instead of September), and the volume will be similar to last year. We don’t see any change in the requirement. The delay this year has largely been due to exams across the country being held up.”

There is a strong demand for lateral hiring front as well. TCS has briefed about lateral hiring during Q4 FY20 results. TCS has noted strong demand for skilled techies despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Global tech companies including IBM, Accenture, Dell, and Salesforce have started presenting hiring plans. The hiring sentiments among tech hiring managers are positive this year. The companies have seen substantial business requirements in emerging areas of technology. Most IT services firm are confident about hiring fresh graduates through campus recruitment drive this year.
