Meta owning Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp recently announced plans to cut 10,000 jobs. It was the second wave of mass reduction from the tech company.

The company earlier laid off 11,000 employees last November. As the company announced the layoff now employees have been sharing their experiences with layoffs.

Recently two pregnant female employees shared their experiences. One employee Andi Allen on maternity leave has even asked if CEO Mark Zuckerberg has even taken a pay cut.

Andi Allen, former Senior Technical Recruiter, Meta shared a LinkedIn Post saying, “I was part of today’s #metalayoffs while on maternity leave. I understand changes in market trends and focus on the business’s bottom line.”

“I don’t understand how #metaleadership miscalculated so badly that they had to lay off thousands of employees, and yet still want to claim that they care about the people who work for them. Has Mark Zuckerberg taken a pay cut? My recruiting team was top-notch, and I loved the teams we supported, but #meta’s handling of this situation is appalling”, the post added.

Marisa DiLorenzo another employee part of the recruitment team also shared her experience with layoffs.

Marisa DiLorenzo shared the post and said, “Unfortunately, my time at Meta has come to an end this week. It’s difficult to witness these broad layoffs impacting many of my talented friends, colleagues, and mentors.”

“This ending sucks. In my 5 years working at Meta, this is not how I envisioned the end, but I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside some of the best and brightest. I’m proud of my work as it will continue to live on through the talent we hired”, she added.

“I’m weeks away from welcoming my first child and I’m looking forward to enjoying the end of my pregnancy and the beginning of motherhood with my husband and the newest addition to our family”, the post concluded.
