In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through India’s corporate corridors, Infosys, one of the country’s largest IT services firms, has terminated a senior associate consultant after he was caught secretly filming a female colleague inside a washroom at the company’s Electronics City campus in Bengaluru.

The accused, identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali, was arrested by the Electronic City police following a formal complaint filed by the victim on June 30, 2025.

How the Incident Unfolded

The victim, a 35-year-old married software professional working as a Technical Test Lead, was using the ladies’ washroom when she noticed a suspicious reflection on the opposite door.

Upon closer inspection, she saw a mobile phone being used to record from the adjacent stall.

She stood on the commode and discovered Swapnil filming her from the neighboring cubicle.

The woman immediately raised an alarm, alerting nearby employees. Swapnil attempted to flee but was apprehended by colleagues and HR personnel.

Upon checking his phone, HR found video footage of the woman, which was later deleted after screenshots were taken.

The woman’s husband, concerned about the possibility of other victims, urged her to file a police complaint.

Investigation Reveals Pattern of Misconduct

During the investigation, police recovered over 30 videos of different women from Swapnil’s phone, suggesting a pattern of voyeuristic behavior.

Swapnil, who had joined Infosys just three months prior, reportedly filmed at least one other female colleague before being caught.

He has been booked under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act (violation of privacy) and Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (voyeurism).

A forensic analysis of his device is underway to determine the full extent of his actions.

Infosys Responds with Swift Action

Infosys issued a formal statement confirming that Swapnil had been terminated from the company.

The firm emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward harassment and misconduct, “We are aware of this incident and have taken necessary action against the employee, who is now separated from the company.”

Infosys stated, “We also promptly supported the complainant by facilitating a swift complaint with law enforcement authorities and continue to cooperate as they investigate further.”

They added, “Infosys is committed to providing an environment free of harassment and has a zero-tolerance policy”.

The company’s Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) committee has also initiated an internal review to ensure safeguards are in place.
