Zepto, the quick-commerce startup co-founded by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, has recently been embroiled in a controversy over its alleged toxic work culture.

The issue came to light following a viral Reddit post by an anonymous employee on the subreddit r/StartUpIndia.

The post detailed a grueling work schedule, with employees reportedly working at least 14 hours a day, starting work at noon and often working until 11 p.m.

The post also claimed that senior professionals avoid joining Zepto due to its challenging workplace dynamics. It added that younger employees are hired to cut costs.

Employee Reactions to Zepto Work Culture

The Reddit post has sparked a wave of reactions from current and former employees.

Many have shared their own experiences, corroborating the claims made in the post.

Some employees have expressed frustration over the long hours and the lack of work-life balance.

Others have highlighted the company’s reliance on younger workers who are expected to work extended hours.

The post also alleged that the company uses unethical practices, such as overcharging customers and copying designs from competitors.

Founder’s Response

In response to the allegations, Aadit Palicha took to social media to address the controversy.

A tweet by Aadit stated, “I have nothing against work-life balance. In fact, I recommend it to all our competitors.”

However, this response was met with criticism from netizens, who felt that Aadit’s comments were dismissive and did not address the core issues raised by the employees.

Aadit later clarified that his tweet was a quote from another CEO and not his own words. However, the damage had already been done.

Impact on Zepto’s Reputation

The controversy has had a significant impact on Zepto’s reputation. Many customers and potential employees are expressing concern over the company’s work culture.

Some have even called for a boycott of the app, urging others to switch to competitors like BlinkIt and Instamart.

The allegations have also raised questions about the sustainability of Zepto’s business model and its ability to retain talent in the long run.

As Zepto grapples with the fallout from the controversy, it remains to be seen how the company will address the concerns raised by its employees.

The company’s leadership will need to take concrete steps to improve work-life balance and create a healthier work environment.

These measures are crucial if they hope to regain the trust of their employees and customers.
