TCS Appoints Aarthi Subramanian as COO and Executive Director – President

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, has announced the appointment of Aarthi Subramanian as Executive Director-President and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

This strategic leadership change is set to take effect on May 1, 2025, for a term of five years, subject to shareholder approval.

Beyond her executive responsibilities, Aarthi serves on several key boards within the Tata Group.

These include Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Capital Limited, Tata AIA Life Insurance Company Ltd, and Infiniti Retail.

Her board positions reflect her strategic influence and leadership within the group.

Leadership Transition and Role at TCS

The Board of Directors approved the decision to appoint Aarthi Subramanian as COO.

This approval was based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Aarthi will serve as Executive Director-President and COO from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2030.

Her responsibilities will involve overseeing operational excellence and driving strategic initiatives.

She will also ensure the seamless execution of TCS’s business objectives across global markets.

The COO role at TCS, last held by N Chandrasekaran before 2009, has now been reinstated.

Aarthi’s appointment aligns with TCS’s focus on operational excellence, innovation, and global expansion.

Her extensive experience in digital transformation and governance positions her as a key driver of TCS’s strategic vision.

Aarthi Subramanian’s Career Journey Educational Background and Board Positions

Aarthi brings over three decades of experience within the Tata Group, showcasing her expertise in technology, operations, and digital transformation.

She currently serves as the Group Chief Digital Officer at Tata Sons, where she has played a pivotal role in driving the conglomerate’s digital and innovation agenda.

Her efforts have enabled Tata Group companies to harness digital technologies for enhanced operational efficiency, customer engagement, and competitive advantage.

Prior to her role at Tata Sons, Aarthi held several leadership positions within TCS.

As Executive Director and Global Head of Delivery Excellence, Governance, and Compliance, she was responsible for ensuring service delivery excellence and overseeing risk and compliance across global operations.

She also led the Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Business Unit, managing strategic accounts and major client relationships.

Aarthi holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India, and a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas, USA.

Her academic credentials have equipped her with a strong foundation in technology and management.
