Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India’s premier engineering and technology conglomerate, is rapidly expanding its footprint across India’s top engineering and management campuses.
Through a compelling mix of high-impact internships and intellectually stimulating case competitions, L&T is not just scouting talent – it’s shaping the future of industry-ready professionals.
A Summer of Impact: L&T’s MBA Internship Program
At the heart of L&T’s talent engagement strategy lies its robust MBA Summer Internship Program (SIP) – a gateway for first-year management students to step into the complex, high-stakes world of business.
The 8-week internship programme, which is over a decade old, is designed to provide meaningful exposure and offers interns the opportunity to be mentored by L&T’s senior leadership and solve real-world business challenges spanning strategy, digital transformation, marketing, sustainability, supply chain, and operations.
This year, the programme witnessed a significant scale-up, with around 90 interns joining in April 2025 – nearly double the intake from the previous year. Prestigious campuses such as IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, and XLRI contributed over 20 interns to the cohort.
Upon onboarding, students were matched to specific business verticals such as L&T Realty, Precision Engineering & Systems, Green Energy, and L&T Sufin, ensuring aligned interests and maximum impact.
The programme not only offers a window into L&T’s business ecosystem but also opens the door to long-term careers, with many internships converting into Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs).
Creating Future-Ready Talent: OutThink & CreaTech 2025
L&T’s efforts to connect with campuses go well beyond internships. In 2025, the company launched two national-level case competitions – OutThink for MBA students and CreaTech for engineering students – aimed at nurturing the next generation of problem-solvers.
OutThink 2025, tailored for India’s leading B-schools, including IIMs, XLRI, FMS, MDI, and SIBM, drew over 6,500 participants who tackled real-world business challenges. The top eight teams reached the Grand Finale held at L&T’s Powai campus on March 28, 2025, with MDI Gurgaon clinching the top prize.
Winners not only received cash awards but also earned Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) offers, cementing L&T’s status as a sought-after recruiter.
“My favourite moment was when the panel appreciated our answers during the Q&A. Their applause and words of encouragement made the effort we put in feel truly rewarding. Of course, winning the L&T case competition was the cherry on top — a moment of pride we’ll never forget.” said Komal Agarwal from MDI Gurgaon
Komal Agarwal from MDI Gurgaon added, “The way the panel engaged with our ideas stood out the most. Their thoughtful questions and genuine interest in our solutions made the experience feel like more than just a competition — it felt like a conversation with industry leaders who valued innovation.”
On the engineering front, CreaTech 2025 attracted 14,500+ students from premier institutions such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs, among others.
With challenges themed around AI in construction, precast infrastructure, and sustainable design, the competition provided students with an opportunity to apply cutting-edge concepts to real-life L&T projects.
The Grand Finale, hosted last week, saw the team from BITS Pilani, Pilani campus emerge as the winner, followed by the teams from IIT (BHU) Varanasi and NIT Raipur.
Together, OutThink and CreaTech recorded:
- 21,000+ student registrations
- 1 crore+ impressions across social media platforms
- Engagement with 250+ campuses nationwide
Organised in partnership with Unstop, these initiatives have significantly amplified L&T’s presence across India’s academic landscape.
Dr. C. Jayakumar, CHRO, L&T, aptly stated, “CreaTech reflects the kind of future-forward thinking that is core to L&T’s DNA. It’s a platform where young minds don’t just participate—they create impact.”
What Lies Ahead
With strong participation, positive feedback, and visible business impact, L&T is committed to making these initiatives annual marquee events. Future plans include enhanced live projects, broader internship programs, and more immersive campus connect efforts — all aimed at building a future-ready talent pipeline aligned to L&T’s diverse and evolving business needs.
By combining rich learning experiences with real-world problem-solving, L&T is not just engaging students — it’s empowering them to engineer the future.
