Deloitte, one of the Big Four professional services firms, has announced plans to create 500 new technology jobs in Belfast over the next three years.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish four dedicated technology centres across the UK, with Belfast set to be the largest hub.

The expansion reflects Deloitte’s commitment to meeting growing client demand and supporting the evolving needs of UK businesses in an increasingly digital economy.

Belfast as a Key Technology Hub for Deloitte

Deloitte has selected Belfast as the largest of its four new technology centres. The other centres will be located in Cardiff, Manchester, and Newcastle.

The Belfast centre will house 1,300 employees, making it a significant contributor to Northern Ireland’s economy.

Deloitte’s decision to expand in Belfast underscores its confidence in the region’s long-term economic prospects and its dedication to fostering local talent and innovation.

Senior partner and CEO of Deloitte UK, Richard Houston, emphasized that the investment in Belfast is a testament to the high-quality workforce available in the region.

Jackie Henry, UK Managing Partner for People and Purpose, emphasized Deloitte’s confidence in Belfast’s workforce.

She stated that the city’s strong technology skills make it an ideal location for one of Deloitte’s flagship centres.

Deloitte UK’s Focus on AI and Digital Transformation

The new technology centres will specialize in designing, building, and managing advanced digital solutions.

These solutions will include artificial intelligence (AI) integration into software, devices, and systems.

Deloitte’s technologists will create applications tailored to the evolving needs of UK businesses.

These innovations will help companies stay competitive in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Deloitte will introduce training programs to help new employees develop essential skills.

These programs will target non-technology graduates, career switchers, and professionals returning to work after career breaks.

These programs will ensure that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

Economic Impact and Government Support

The expansion is expected to give a significant boost to Northern Ireland’s economy by generating new job opportunities.

It will also reinforce Belfast’s reputation as a leading technology hub.

Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald praised the initiative, highlighting the strong pipeline of talent from Northern Ireland’s world-class universities and colleges.

She highlighted that Deloitte’s investment reflects the region’s strong economic performance.

She also emphasized Northern Ireland’s ability to attract major global firms.
