Infosys Limited has announced plans to set up a new campus in Mohali, Punjab, with an investment of ₹300 crore, expected to generate 2,500 direct jobs and 210 indirect employment opportunities.
The announcement was made by Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora on September 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to attract large-scale technology investments.
Infosys will develop the new facility in phases on a 30-acre site in IT City, Mohali.
The first phase will involve the construction of 3 lakh square feet of built-up area, with work scheduled to begin on November 5, coinciding with Gurpurab.
Completion is expected within three years, subject to regulatory approvals.
Infosys Second Phase to Expand Capacity and Infrastructure
Following the initial phase, Infosys plans to expand the campus further by constructing an additional 4.8 lakh square feet.
This second phase will commence only after the successful completion of the first and after securing all necessary legal and regulatory clearances.
The planners designed the phased approach to ensure orderly development and long-term sustainability.
The new campus will feature modern office spaces and support buildings, designed to meet LEED Platinum certification standards for green buildings.
This reflects Infosys’s commitment to environmentally responsible infrastructure and aligns with Punjab’s broader goals for sustainable industrial development.
Revival of a Long-Pending Project
Infosys’s presence in Mohali dates back to 2017, but the company’s plans for a larger campus have faced delays.
The foundation stone for a 50-acre facility was originally laid in 2014 by then Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy.
However, environmental clearance issues and infrastructure bottlenecks hampered progress.
The current ₹300 crore investment marks a revival of Infosys’s earlier vision for Mohali. It also reflects renewed confidence in Punjab’s potential as a technology hub.
Sameer Goel, head of Infosys’s Mohali centre, acknowledged the support received from the state government and expressed optimism about the company’s expanded role in the region.
Government’s Role in Facilitating Infosys Investment
Minister Sanjeev Arora credited the state’s investor-friendly policies and streamlined approval processes for attracting Infosys’s renewed interest.
Under Punjab’s Mission Investment initiative, the government clears industrial projects within 45 days.
This streamlined process makes the state more competitive for business expansion.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administration has emphasized the importance of creating employment opportunities for local youth and positioning Punjab as a preferred destination for technology and service sector investments.
The government regards the Infosys project as a key achievement under this strategy.
Economic and Regional Impact
The creation of 2,500 direct jobs will benefit local professionals and graduates. Additionally, the indirect employment will support ancillary services and vendors.
Mohali will emerge as a major IT and services hub for northern India once Infosys completes both phases of the project.
Infosys has expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government, Invest Punjab, and GMADA for their cooperation in facilitating the project.
The company has assured timely execution and reiterated its commitment to contributing to the region’s economic development.
