Walmart Global HR Plans & Priorities for 2021: A Clear Focus to Make a Big Impact

In a recent article, responding to queries on Walmart’s HR Plans and Priorities for 2021, Donna Morris, Chief People Officer, Walmart said, “We recently gathered (virtually) as a global people team to align on our priorities for our new fiscal year. We have clarity on our focus areas to make an impact on the business and our associates in the year ahead: digital, inclusion, growth, and well-being.”

Throughout Walmart’s rich history, our associates have proven Sam Walton, the company’s founder, right about many things — especially his belief that “our people make the difference.” As Walmart’s Global People team, our charge is to engage, empower and equip associates to continue making the difference now, and in the future of retail., She added.

When we get our four strategic priorities right, our associates will continue to make the difference in unimaginable ways, Donna said.

Digital

As consumer habits evolve and become more dependent on technology, every aspect of our business will need to be tech-enabled, too. Our People team will lead digital transformation the right way. Uniquely human traits like empathy, creative problem-solving and leadership are as important as ever. We’ll unlock those traits by creating future-focused roles that are empowered by digital solutions. When we do, our associates will be able to focus on what they do best — taking care of our customers and our communities.

Inclusion

Inclusion means building a Walmart for everyone. We’ll use our business capabilities, our scale and our associates’ ideas and voices to be an even better Walmart and influence the world for good. When Walmart is truly the best place for women, people of color and the LGBTQ+ community to grow and advance their careers, it will be the most welcoming shopping environment, too.

Growth

From the time an associate joins Walmart, we are focused on supporting their career advancement and unlocking their unlimited potential. Our associates are technologists, operators, truck drivers, marketers, merchants, healthcare professionals, and much more. Walmart is a foundational entry point for many, and a place of growth and opportunity for all. We’ll continue to attract exceptional talent, provide them with learning and development opportunities, and watch as they lead the future of work and find new, extraordinary ways to support each other, serve our customers, and grow our business.

Well-being

Well-being of our associates is, and continues to be, one of our top priorities. Being part of the Walmart team means our associates experience the “live better” promise firsthand. We’re focused on three primary forms of well-being – physical, emotional and financial. By combining world-class benefits with competitive pay, we are focused on supporting our associates and helping them through life’s biggest moments. And as we take care of our associates, they focus on the care of the customers and communities around the world.

Digital. Inclusion. Growth. Well-being. With our amazing global people team and a clear focus for FY22, I’m confident we’ll make a huge impact on our associates, customers and communities in the year ahead.
