IT majors of India Wipro, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra have revoked the offer letters issued to many freshers candidates. Initially, these companies delayed the onboarding process for several months.

Students have received a letter stating that their employment letter is being revoked. The Tech companies have been revoked on grounds of failing certain eligibility criteria and company guidelines.

“It has been identified that you are not meeting our academic eligibility criteria. Hence your offer stands null and void.” the Businessline noted.

The Job applicants have accused Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro of the delay in their onboarding process. According to reports, hundreds of freshers who had received offers from the tech giants have seen their offer letters have been canceled after a delay of around 3-4 months in the onboarding process.

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) sought the prompt intervention of Union Minister, Labour and Employment Bhupendra Yadav to take necessary action against Wipro which has been postponing the joining date of its more than 2000 students/employees, despite their compliance with its assessment guidelines.

“The joining of these employees was supposed to be completed in August 2022, but Wipro kept on postponing the joining date, despite clearing assessments, interviews, internships, training, and background verification. Not a single rupee has been given to these employees for the last year,” NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja earlier said.

“Hence through this letter, we are seeking your prompt intervention and support to safeguard the welfare, rights, and families of more than 2000 students and employees,” he said in a letter written to the minister.

Recently, Wipro has laid off 300 employees who were found working with its competitor companies at the same time employment with Wipro.

Also, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji said on 21 September that their employment has been terminated for an “act of integrity violation”.

Top IT giants including TCS and Infosys have criticized the moonlighting practices and have termed it as ‘unethical’ and ‘cheating’. Recently Wipro fired 300 employees for moonlighting.

However, there have been few companies such as Swiggy and Tech Mahindra that have come out in the favour of moonlighting.
