According to Financial Express reports, An Indian multinational IT services, and consulting company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) encourages its employees to come to the office.

As per the Financial Express reports N Ganapathy Subramaniam, chief operating officer at TCS, said in an interview, “There is a greater realisation that by coming to offices, more things get done, especially for people who have joined us in the last two years.”

“When they come and see the offices, they see a different perspective of TCS, they see a different perspective of their own position vis-a-vis their peers”, N Ganapathy Subramaniam added.

However, the Tech company has now formally ruled out 100 percent remote employment for everyone. In reference to an earlier internal mail shared with employees, TCS has asked its employees to work in the office for at least three days a week.

A TCS spokesperson said that employees will be working according to the roster. The roster will be done based on project requirements. It will include both freshers and experienced professionals. However, there is no deadline for the return-to-office plan.

“Senior leaders of TCS have been working from TCS offices for a while now and our customers are also visiting TCS offices… Your respective managers will now roster you to work from the TCS office for at least 3 days in a week,” the company said in the mail.

“Adherence to rostering is mandatory and will be tracked… any noncompliance will be taken seriously, and administrative measures may be applied”, the company mail added.

“All employees have been advised to return to the base locations where they were operating before the pandemic. Those employees who have sought and got transfers will operate from the changed locations,” a TCS spokesperson said.

Due the Covid the company announced a 25×25 work model where it envisaged that by year 2025, no more than 25% of its employees would need to be at a TCS facility at any given point in time, and no individual would have to spend more than 25% of their time at a TCS facility to be 100% productive.

TCS has said that it will be hiring 1.25 lakh to 1.5 lakh employees in the financial year 2023-24 (FY24). Since the company posted a decline of 2,197 people in its employee base, TCS headcount stood at 613,974 as on December 31, 2022. The company also clarified that none of these headcount reductions are influenced by the demand environment, and were simply a result of mass hiring.

TCS has reported attrition in Q3FY23 stood at 21.3 percent, a slight decline from 21.5 percent in Q2FY23 on a last-twelve-month basis.
