According to media reports, TCS has started sending memos to employees who are not completing at least 12 days of work from office (WFO) in a month. And in the memo, TCS also warned employees of potential disciplinary action who fail to follow the rostered office attendance.

As per TOI report, employees are warned and directed to start reporting to work from their office location according to the assigned roster with immediate effect. In response, the TCS spokesperson emphasized the company’s excitement to see its campuses bustling with energy and expressed the desire for all employees to be part of that vibrant ecosystem.

“It is important for them to experience the TCS environment to collaborate, learn, grow, and also have fun together, thus developing a stronger sense of belonging to the organization and enabling better integration”, the company added.

TCS Denial on Strict Warning

Commenting on the above reports, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has denied claims that the company issued any strict warnings to employees regarding their compliance with their return-to-office policy.

The company spokesperson said, “However, we have encouraged employees to work from the office for three days a week, but it has not communicated any career or compensation implications for non-compliance.”

The company has denied, the facts in the TOI article which stated that TCS had started sending memos to employees who did not complete a minimum of 12 days of office work per month.

TCS’s Earlier Statement in April 2023

While announcing the Q4FY23 results, K Krithivasan, CEO & MD, TCS said that almost 50% of employees are coming to the office thrice a week and that the company plans to take this number to 70-80%.

He said, “Our stand was very clear on the way back-to-office. We want more and more people to come to work. We place a lot of emphasis and importance on what we call the TCS culture and TCS DNA.”

“And we believe that when employees work together with their mentors and leaders they imbibe that knowledge. HR is working very hard. I think close to about 50% of folks are coming at least three days a week. We’ll take it up to 70-80%,” K Krithivasan added.
