An Indian multinational corporation, Wipro has ended work from Home and employees are required to report to the office three days a week, effective from November 15, 2023.

The decision aligns with a trend among the IT giants in India, including TCS and Infosys, that have also transitioned to office-based work models.

Recently, Infosys has ended the work from home and asked its employees to come to the office. This change primarily affects employees categorized under Brand 5 and 6, encompassing mid-level managers, and entry-level staff.

They have been directed to work for a minimum of 10 days each month from office, effective from November 20, 2023.

Moreover, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has ended the hybrid work policy and asked its employees to work from the office 5 days a week from October 1, 2023 onwards.

Until October 1, employees were attending the office for three days a week.

The company has ended the hybrid work model in internal communication and said, “As communicated by the CEO and chief human resources officer (CHRO) in various townhalls, it is mandatory for all associates to attend office on all the working days (5 days per week if there are no holidays) starting 1 October 2023.”

Wipro has updated its mandatory hybrid work policy from November 15 and in case the employees don’t follow the updated policies they will face consequences from January 7, 2024.

The Money Control report said Wipro’s Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil to its employees, said, “Starting November 15, all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week.”

“This change aims to enhance teamwork, facilitate face-to-face interactions, and strengthen Wipro’s culture,” the mail added.

The company earlier said that it would honour past offers before going to campuses to hire freshers.

Wipro’s headcount has dropped further by 5,015 in the July-September quarter of fiscal 2023-24 (Q2FY24).

The total headcount now stands at 2,44,707 employees and the attrition rate has dropped further to 15.5 percent, compared to 17.3 percent in the preceding April-June quarter. The total employee count at Wipro in the previous quarter was experienced 249,758.
