Ola signs MoU with Haryana Government and likely to create 35,000 jobs

Cab-hailing firm Ola, Founded in 2011 by Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati and run by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Employment of  Haryana Government to create 35,000 entrepreneurial opportunities in the state.


The MoU is part of the state’s “Saksham Haryana” initiative which was launched last year by Hon’ble Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to empower the youth through various Skill Development and provide them employment opportunities in the state.  The scheme was launched on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, ‘Saksham Saarthi’ also commemorates the 3rd anniversary of Skill India Mission launched under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ola is committed to Government of India’s skill development initiative and has rolled out several programmes to promote entrepreneurial growth and opportunities across the country. Ola has tied up with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and RISE India to skill 50 lakh drivers by 2020 and has committed Rs. 100 crore towards the initiative. As part of the initiative, Ola and RISE India will set up 500 driver training centres across the country.

Livemint reports “The MoU reflects Ola’s commitment to accelerate the state government’s efforts of creating two lakh jobs for the youth of Haryana,” Ola said in a statement, adding that the MoU aims to create 35,000 job opportunities.

Haryana’s labour and employment minister, Nayab Saini, said the state government has fixed a target to tap employment potential through jobs in the government and private sector as well as through self employment. “Skill development is key to professional growth and we will thus, be working with various bodies, and companies like Ola to customise and upgrade the existing training infrastructure…,” Saini said.

Pranav Mehta, Director at Ola said Haryana is a key market for Ola. “We at Ola are committed to making a difference in all the states where we operate our services. Haryana is a key market for us, with cities such as Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Panchkula, etc. contributing significantly to our growth.
