Here’s how Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Cognizant India, and TCS are planning Work from Office

With the steady decline in coronavirus cases, most companies in India and across the globe are calling back their employees to the office. However, some companies are trying to adopt hybrid work model, keeping the safety and security of their employees in mind.

Tech Mahindra

Commenting on Return to Office, Harshvendra Soin, Global Chief People Officer & Head – Marketing, Tech Mahindra said, “At Tech Mahindra, we believe in ‘wellness before business’ and employee well-being is our topmost priority. Our associates continue to have the flexibility to work from anywhere and we expect this trend of hybrid working to ramp up.”

“Having said that, with the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases, we see that many associates at Tech Mahindra are recharting their routes back-to-office and are looking forward to meet their teams in person. Further, we are keeping a close watch on all the directives issued by the respective state governments and have put stringent measures in place to curb the spread.” He added.

HCL Technologies

Commenting on Return to Office, the HCL spokesperson said, “At HCL, one of our top priorities is safety and well-being of our employees and their families. We also remain deeply committed to maintaining our business normalcy thereby ensuring uninterrupted services to our clients. At present we are monitoring the situation and continue to operate in a hybrid model.”

Cognizant India

Cognizant India starts the return to Office on 18 April and said, “Starting in April, we’re shifting from an exception-based return-to-office approach to one that makes it easier for our teams to work from an office. As space permits, and on a voluntary basis, employees will be welcome to work from an open office to collaborate face-to-face with their colleagues and teams.”

Cognizant Further said, “Many employees will continue to work from home, although client and business requirements will determine the need to work from a Cognizant or client office.”

“By the end of the year and into early 2023, we expect to fully transition to the hybrid work model as our long-term state. Across the hybrid model, employees will work a set number of days from the office. Their number of days in office versus remote will vary based on the kind of work they do and client requirements.” It said the company in the statement.

Tata Consultancy Services

Commenting on Return to Office, TCS said, “As the situation with respect to COVID 19 improves across the globe and now that majority of our associates and their families are vaccinated, we are transitioning into a hybrid mode of working, with our associates choosing to spend time at both, office premises and working remotely.”

“We will be getting our employees back to offices in the coming months. We are already starting to encourage our associates to return to their respective offices. Senior management level executives have started working from offices regularly. Our offices around the world are following all social distancing & COVID 19 protocols, implemented around the beginning of the pandemic, and are extremely safe for employees to work out of.  We look forward to see our campuses bustling with young energy in the coming months across all our global offices spread across.” TCS added.

The company further added, “46 countries. We remain committed to adopting our futuristic and path-breaking 25X25 model. This model will require no more than 25% of our associates to work from an office at any given point in time, and they need not spend more than 25% of their time in the office. But an important part of the journey to the 25/25 model is to first bring people back to physical offices and gradually transition into the hybrid work model.”

TCS said, “We believe that innovation thrives in an environment of collaboration and there is more to work than a desk and a laptop. We are gradually shifting to an agile model by making infrastructure modifications and adoption of digital infrastructure. We have set up over agile work seats worldwide, which allow our associates to work and engage with fellow team members from any TCS office.”

The company added, “Our agile workspace is intelligent, automated, and cloud-based digital infrastructure that is adaptable to accommodate evolving safety policies and regulations, resilient to the onslaught of cyberattacks, and supports work-from-anywhere operating models. Additionally, we have set up Occasional Operating Zones (OOZ) and hot desks.”

“These OOZs allow our associates to plug in their system in any office around the country and get connected to the global workforce instantly. The last two years have been a radical disruption in the way we think, live, and function. There definitely is excitement around coming back to the workplace, people want to meet their colleagues. This hybrid model enables greater flexibility for employees and thus seems to be a welcome change in the industry.” It said in the statement
